\nAkkerman fortress<\/strong> was raised in XIII-XV centuries. It is a well-known monument of architecture and town planning and the last one fortification of such dimension in a good state of preservation. The overall area of the fortress exceeds 9 hectares.
\nYou have a unique opportunity to touch an antique monument and imagine the size of defense works of the Middle Ages. You will be able to climb the towers, the bastions and semi-bastions still magnifical and forceful of once-great Akkerman; to take a walk on the fort walls (5-15 m high, 0.8-5 m wide), to enter the watchtowers (the most popular are Ovidyi’s Tower (or Maiden’s Tower) and Pushkin’s Tower) and feast your eyes on Dnestr lagoon. It is a chance to learn the construction and operation principles of defense works of the Middle Ages that were built on the territory of modern-day Ukraine.

A guide will tell you many interesting things about fateful battles between the residents of the fortress and the warriors of the Ottoman Empire, he will show and describe you the system of defense works. You will hear about three Russian-Turkish operations and their sanguinary battles that were seen by these majestic and forceful walls. Here you can also visit different museums where the artifacts of the antique city of Tira (VI century B.C.E) and the weapon of Akkerman’s defenders of XIII-XV centuries are represented. \"tour<\/a>

It’s a total reconstruction of knight battles both group and hand to hand, accurate recreation of medieval warrior’s costumes ranging from helmets to ancient leather shoes.
